TEU - Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit

It is the unit of measurement for container transportation. It refers to a standard container (22G1) with a length of 6m (Net: 6,058).

Thanks to this standardization, which was created as a result of the long efforts of Malcolm McLean, the pioneer of container transportation, the way for Multi-modal transportation was opened.

Thanks to this unit of measure;

• Annual container handling capacity of the port,

• Traffic density capacity of the port area,

• Carrying capacity of the container ship based on units,

can be measured.
